As older wedding traditions have seemed to fade into modern society, the options have become more flexible when it comes to who pays for the expenses.

Today, many couples decide they will pay for their own wedding and take the time to save what they need. Some families of the bride and groom will agree to split the expenses and there are still a number who plan traditional weddings. Still, the question often arises in all cases of who pays for what.

Traditional Expenses Paid for by the Bride and Bride's Family

The following expenses are generally paid for by the bride and her family.

*The services of a traditional wedding planner/consultant.

*The floral decorations for the wedding ceremony and wedding reception, bridesmaids flowers and the bouquet for the bride.

*The brides gifts to her attendants.

*The brides gift to the groom.

*The grooms wedding ring.

*The traffic officer if needed.

*The transportation cost of the bridal party to the reception.

*Any expenses for accommodations of bridal attendants.

*The transportation cost and lodging expenses for the officiant if they are from out-of-town or if the grooms family has invited them to officiate.

*Cost for marriage license.

*The transportation for the groom and best man to the wedding ceremony.

*The expense of the honeymoon.

*The cost of the rehearsal dinner.

*The expenses associated with the grooms attendants accommodations.

*The cost of the bachelor dinner.

*The transportation and lodging expenses for the grooms family.


Traditional Expenses Paid for by the Bridesmaids and Honor Attendants

*Cost to purchase apparel and all accessories.

*The transportation to and from the city where the wedding ceremony is held at.

*The expense to contribute to a gift for all the bridesmaids to the bride

*The bridal shower or luncheon for the bride.


Traditional Expenses Paid for by the Best Man/Groomsmen and Usher

*The rental or purchase expense of wedding attire.

*The transportation cost to and from the site where the wedding ceremony will be held at.

*Contribution to the gift from all of he attendants to the groom.

*The expenses of a bachelor dinner.

Traditional Expenses Paid for by Out-of-Town Guests

* The transportation cost to and from the wedding ceremony.

*The lodging expense and their meals.

*A wedding gift to the couple.
