There are many ways to get people to sign up for your email marketing offers. By using a little creativity, e-mail addresses can be obtained by using a number of different methods.
The following ideas involve more personal contact with people than obtaining addresses through Internet methods. You can build your list quickly when using the Internet and also grabbing those opportunities when speaking with customers on the telephone or in person.

• If you carry or hand out business cards, print an offer on the back that will interest people in signing up for your newsletter.
• Provide a sign-up book when having a booth at a trade show. Ask if you can send an e-mail to anyone who signs the book. Make it more inviting by giving something away such as a daily prize or one to be given away at the end of the trade show event.
• Fill a container with an item such as gumballs and have another container for people to put their guess of how many items are in the jar. Include on the paper in which they will write their guess for a place to provide their e-mail address since you will notify the winner by this method.
• If you are a business that takes orders over the telephone be sure to have employees ask for the customers e-mail address at either the beginning or at the end of the call.
• If you are a brick and mortar business ask customers for their postal and e-mail adress for upcoming offers you will be having.
• For brick and mortar businesses, let customers know you have an exclusive list for those customers who provide an e-mail address. They will be informed about the sale earlier than others and call it a pre-sales event.
• Have weekly or monthly contests where the sign-up form includes a place for their e-mail address.
• Have contests with your employees and offer a bonus of money as incentive to anyone who gets the most "valid" email addresses.
• Give customers a discount for referring your business.
• Go through your records of customers you have not heard from lately and contact them. At the same time ask for their updated email address.
• If you have a business where it is convenient to the customer to receive verification by e-mail or to receive confirmation of an order or service by e-mail, ask them if they would like to be notified in this fashion or receive the information by e-mail. Then ask for their e-mail address.
• Be sure to include an opt-in form on each page of your web-site.
• When someone attempts to leave your site have a pop-up that requests their email address.
• If your business involves lots of on the phone opportunities, be sure to ask if they can be added to your newsletter before ending the conversation.
• Place a container at the check-out area at the place of your business and do a weekly or monthly prize giveaway for one of your products. Then add everyone who put their business card in the container or bowl to your newsletter list.
• Collect business cards at trade shows. Be sure you get permission to send emails to them.
• Post the hosted link from your newsletter into linked Items through using Facebook.
• Be sure to include an opt-in form on your Facebook fan page.
