Cider vinegar, also referred to as apple-cider vinegar has great healing power and was first touted by D.C. Jarvis, a Vermont doctor, who believed it prevented sicknesses in pets. He then tried using it with people, advising regular doses of apple cider vinegar and honey to increase longevity.

Apple cider vinegar is less acidic than wine vinegar, making it easier to digest and the main reason it's preferred for medicinal purposes.

Apple cider vinegar is high in many important nutrients such as beta-carotene, magnesium, potassium, riboflavin, calcium, thiamine, riboflavin, vitamins B6, E and C; and fruit pectin and acid.

The Healer

To clear the body of toxins take a couple tablespoons of apple cider vinegar each day. It can also be used in a compress to help reduce pain and swelling.

Always use a certified organically grown vinegar since its guaranteed to be pure and contains all the vital elements.

Apple cider vinegar helps fight inflammation and infection when taken internally and externally since its a germicide. It also aids in stimulating the excretory organs and blood clots from occurring. It's the vitamin C and beta carotene in apple cider vinegar that works to destroy free radicals that weaken the immune system and can therefore lead to other types of illness.

Varicose Veins

Making a compress with apple cider vinegar can help reduce the pain and swelling that can be the result of varicose veins.

To make a compress soak a towel in apple cider vinegar and wrap it around the affected area. Cover the wrap with a dry towel and elevate the legs for thirty minutes.

If you have sensitive skin reduce the amount of vinegar and increase the amount of water. To improve blood flow and tighten tissue try massaging the area with the mixture.

Energizing Tonic

Dissolve two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and two tablespoons of honey in a glass of lukewarm water. Every morning and evening drink a glass of this tonic for at least six weeks. You should feel more vitalized and more energetic over time.

Other Remedies

Apple cider vinegar is wonderful to use for burns, intestinal and digestive problems, sunburn, weak muscles, reducing fatigue, insect bites and stings and to lower cholesterol that's high.

Make vinegar socks to reduce a fever by immersing a pair of socks in a mixture of equal parts of apple cider vinegar and cool water. Wring the socks out well and put them on your feet. Re-soak the socks in the mixture and put them back on your feet before they have fully dried. This works well for adults and children.

To help a sunburn or mild burn, soak a linen cloth in equal parts of apple cider vinegar and water. Wring the cloth out and lay it on the affected area. You can also use this mixture on skin that is dry and itchy. To help dandruff, you can apply vinegar directly to the scalp prior to shampooing.

To purify the skin, take a daily twenty minute bath in a tub full of hot water and one cup of apple cider vinegar. This will cleanse the body of acid residues. This is also quite helpful for fungal skin diseases.

For a cough remedy, mix five tablespoons of honey with five teaspoons of apple cider vinegar. This mixture will relieve coughing and also aid in breaking up phlegm, A chest compress will also help calm a cough. Soak a towel in equal parts of cider vinegar and hot water. Then place it on the chest for thirty minutes.

Extra Tip

For corns and calluses: Soak a slice of bread in apple cider vinegar until it is fully saturated. Then put the bread slice on the affected area. Secure the bread with a piece of cloth and allow it to soften the skin overnight.

I am a firm believer in using apple cider vinegar for a lot of things. I have cured my sinus infection more than once by drinking vinegar. (mix a little baking soda with it to kill the bite and add a bit of apple juice) makes for a great soothing, healing sinus infection chaser!

If you soak a cotton ball in it and apply it to a mole at night with a band-aid every night for a few weeks the mole will fall off. I have done it twice, my wife has to put up with me smelling like a salad.
