To Clean Brass:

Make a paste from one cup of flour, one cup of white vinegar and one teaspoon of table salt. Then rub a thin layer of the paste on the brass item. Allow it to remain for a few minutes and then rinse well to remove. Be sure to dry the item well.

To Make Dish Detergent/Grease Cutter:

Use a half cup of baking soda and add to lemon juice in order to cut through tough grease.

For Dishwasher odor:

Place baking soda in the detergent compartment and white vinegar in the rinse dispenser. Run the dishwasher through a complete cycle.

For a Drain Cleaner:

First plunge the drain and then add a half cup of baking soda, half cup of white vinegar and two liters of boiling water. Allow this to sit in the drain for about 30 minutes and then flush with running warm water.

General Household Cleaner & Laundry Cleaner:

Baking soda is an excellent all-purpose cleaner especially for stains on counter tops and in porcelain sinks. Use it just as you would a product such as Comet or Ajax.

Another great cleaner is to mix a half teaspoon of Borax, a little amount of liquid soap and two cups of hot water. Mix this in a spray bottle.

Fabric Softner:

Put a half of a cup of white vinegar in with the rinse water.

Grease Remover:

Place Borax on a damp cloth and use as you would Comet or Ajax.

Furniture Polish:

Add olive oil to a little white vinegar or lemon juice.

Ink Spot Remover:

Add one tablespoon of cream of tartar to cold water plus a tablespoon of lemon juice.

Linoleum Floor Cleaner:

Add one cup of white vinegar to two liters of water.

Microwave Oven Cleaner:

Place some lemon slices in a microwave-safe bowl then add one cup of water. Put the bowl in the microwave for four minutes. Allow this to remain in the microwave for an additional three minutes. Do not open the door during this time.

The lemon juice acts like an antibacterial agent and the lemon juice makes the oven easier to wipe out.

Mildew Remover:

Use equal parts of white vinegar and salt or vinegar, water and a little tea tree oil.

You can also try one part of hydrogen peroxide with two parts of water. Mix this in a spray bottle. After applying leave it on for a half an hour and then rinse well.

Oven Cleaner:

Use two tablespoons of liquid dish soap and two tablespoons of Borax added to warm water.

For an over night cleaner: Spray the oven with warm water first. Then cover the oven with a layer of baking soda. Now spray it lightly with water and leave this over night. In the morning wipe the oven clean and rinse.

Silver Jewelry Cleaner:

For tarnished silver jewelry items: Place the item in a small bowl of ketchup for three to five minutes. Use an old toothbrush dipped in ketchup to clean small crevices. Be sure to rinse well and shine with a soft dry cloth.

Spot Remover:

Mix club soda, lemon juice and table salt in a spray bottle.

Toilet Bowl Cleaner:

Make a paste from Borax and lemon juice or white vinegar.

Tub & Tile Cleaner:

Mix a quarter cup of baking soda with a half cup of white vinegar and warm water.

Window Cleaner:

Add two tablespoons of white vinegar and one liter of warm water in a spray bottle.

Mix a quarter teaspoon of liquid dish detergent, three tablespoons of white vinegar and two cups of water in a spray bottle.

The liquid detergent will cut the wax residue left from using commercial window cleaners.

Wood Floor Cleaner:

Mix one part of white vinegar, one part of water, four drops of pure essential lemon
oil, two drops of tea tree oil and four drops of essential lavender oil in a spray bottle. Then spray & wipe clean.
