Jobs for Cash

Spending money can even be more fun if the money is earned by yourself. Many of the ideas are oldies but goodies and people will pay to have these tasks done for them. Here's how to do it.

Babysitting

Babysitting requires responsibility and can be a lot of work but it is a good way to earn extra cash. Babysitting classes are often offered at groups such as Red Cross, YWCA and Girl Scouts.

Here are some things that should make babysitting a little easier once you are prepared to take on the job.

You can't go wrong with having a babysitting kit when caring for young children. Here are a few ideas of some of the items to include in the kit:

The Babysitting Kit: Tape, glue stick, construction paper, markers, crayons, crayon books, paper bags, rubber bands, pipe cleaners, playing cards, dull scissors, yarn, beads, buttons, books, movies and a small first aid kit.

Be sure to keep small objects away from young children since they can put them in their mouth and potentially choke on them. Also keep in mind, small children can be quite inquisitive and put small objects in their ears and noses.

Snow Shoveling

Form a team of you and your friends and go door to door asking residents if they would like their driveways and sidewalks swept of snow. Many people dread doing this task themselves and will delighted to pay you to do it for them. The more people you have the faster you can complete the job, take on more work and make more money.

You should have shovels and road salt as part of your gear.

Raking Yards

Most people do not like raking their yard. All you need is a rake and you can make some good money. Keep in mind if you form a team you can make more money in a day's time because you can trun out more work..

Right around fall and the early part of winter is an excellent time for finding plenty of jobs since trees are loosing their leaves during this time.

Washing Cars

This will be easier if you get a crew together. Make sure all of the windows are closed before you start hosing down the car. Soap up the car by hand, using big sponges or soft cloths.

You should always start at the top and work your way down the vehicle. Be sure to dump out your bucket of water and replace it when it becomes too dirty. Do not forget the tires and the rims. Shine up tires by using a protective spray. Always rinse the car off well and be sure to dry the door jams and any accessories.

More Money Making Ideas

Lemonade Stand: Who doesn't enjoy a cold glass of lemonaid on a hot summer day? Jazz up the pitcher if you use a frozen concentrate by adding a couple lemon slices on top. Have another container to keep your ice in so it does not dilute the lemonaid. Or have a freezer chest filled with ice.

Vacation Specialist: Let people know you will bring in their mail and water their plants when they are away on vacation. You can also offer pet-care services while people are away on vacation. Do a good job and you are sure to get repeat business.

Helping Grown-ups Get on the Internet: Put up notices around the neighborhood that you are available to help in this area if you are good at computers. Many adults will be happy to pay someone to help them to do some of the basic stuff such as how to get on-line, how to receive and send e-mails and so on. This could turn out to be a lucrative business.

Toy Auction: Gather up all of the old toys you and friends no longer want. First make sure to get parents permission. Be sure to give each person a receipt for the toy they purchase. Pick a date and give the auction a lot of publicity. You can put up posters advertising the upcoming auction..

Put all of the toys on display on the day of the auction. This will give everyone interested a chance to look over the merchandise. Then begin the bidding. Start the bid at a quarter. Be creative. The more you talk up the toy, the more cash you will make. Write the selling price of every toy on the receipt. The auctioneer should receive 10%. Be sure to keep accurate records.

Tutoring: If you are really good in a particular subject or have a great talent, offer tutoring assistance. You could even tutor on-line depending on the subject you have decided on.

Sell on Amazon or E-Bay: Sell items you no longer want. First ask your parents permission. You could also buy items at garage sales for low prices that you know you can make a profit on. List the items on these sites and re-sell them.

Blogging: There are many blogging opportunities available on-line. With anything on-line and related to the computer, speak with your parents first. These jobs can be found by looking around on the Internet. You could very well make a nice amount of money during your high school years and well into college by blogging.

Home Library: If you are a big reader and have accumulated a lot of books, rent them out. Set up an area where the kids in your neighborhood can view the books and then charge a fee for the books to be rented out. Decide on how long before the book needs to be returned.

Pet Care: Let people know you will watch after their pets when they are away on vacation. Post flyers at neighborhood grocery stores. If your housing area has a monthly newsletter, inquire about how to advertise your service.

Personal Services Menu: If there are many people in your family, make a menu of all the things you will offer such as cooking, cleaning up a bedroom, tidying up a bathroom, picking up toys, and anything else you think your siblings and parents do not like to do much. Charge a fee for each task.

Lawn Service: Offer to mow lawns for a fee. Post flyer's around the neighborhood.Find out if parents will allow you to go door-to-door. You can easily get steady and regular work once they see how well you do.

Arts and Crafts: If you are good at art or making crafts, consider selling them. This can be done by having a yard sale where you offer the items. Perhaps where you live has a clubhouse or area you can set up a table on a weekend to sell. This is good around the holidays when people are looking for unique gifts. If you enjoy baking, you could also offer baked goods.

Dog Walking: Some people would like to have their dog walked daily but are unable to do it themselves. Perhaps they are busy working from a home office or have a health condition that prevents them. Offer your service by posting flyer's.

TIP: Word-of-mouth is excellent advertising. Once people hear and see the great work you do, they will surely tell others.

Be creative in any business you do with such things as offering a referral bonus. If a customer refers you to another person who uses your service or makes a purchase from you, give them a small discount off future services.

Pooper-Scooper: Offer a service to clean up backyards from those with dogs. This is a service where you can easily get repeat business.

Toy Assembly: If you are very good with putting things together, offer putting toys together for families, especially around the holidays. Advertise early starting in October if you can. This could branch off into other things to put together or set-up for people.

Gift Wrapper: This is another excellent idea for around the holidays. Wrapping a lot of gifts when people are so busy around the holidays can be difficult for them. This could be a very good money maker.

Ironing Service: If you enjoy and do ironing well, have the clothing dropped off and picked up from you. Do the ironing at your home. Make sure they bring their own hangers.

Party helper: Help set-up for children's parties with decorating, game preparations and an extra hand at the party to assist with the party-goers.

Make sure you first discuss what you would like to do in order to earn money with your parents. Every parent is different in what they will or will not want you to do and with good reasons. They can also be very helpful in assisting you with getting started if you need it.

Be dependable, responsible, and do what you are offering well and you will make a good name for yourself.

So, I have to tell you that my daughter has attempted several of your suggestions but I had not thought about her helping others with the internet. She is actually really computer literate, so that is a GREAT idea!
